Texas native fish
Not aware of any particularly good locations for plants, but Texas does
have some very interesting fish species, including the Rio Grande
Darter, which is bright green with red fins and quite attractive, along
with a number of other interesting species. Suggest acquiring a copy of
Peterson's Field Guide to Freshwater Fish by Lawrence Page and Brooks
Burr (about $20, available at most bookstores). This will give you an
excellent head start on locating particular fish species and likely
spots where they might be found. Of course, I believe there should be a
field guide that provides similar information for aquatic plants, also.
