Dave Bottger recommended that I contact you with some information on a
speaker I have lined up.
I am an officer for the Minnesota Aquarium Society. Next weekend (March
5-7) we will be hosting one of the curators of fishes at the Smithsonian:
Dr. Stanley Weitzman.
Weitzman will be talking about internally fertilized tetras (Characidae)
at our monthly meeting, Thursday, March 5. That meeting is free and open
to the public. Its held in the basement community room of St.
Christopher's church, NE corner of Hamline and Hwy 36 in Roseville. The
talk starts at 7:30.
He and his wife will be speaking at a special banquet on Saturday evening
at the Hazeltine Country Club in Chaska. The first talk is on the family
Lebiasinidae (Pencilfishes & relatives) and is scheduled for 5:00pm.
After that is a banquet, an auction of some rare aquarium fishes, and
then the keynote talk: The various S. American Biotopes. Banquet
tickets for non club members are $20 before the Thursday meeting and $25
at the meeting. However, you'll save $5 if you sign up for a year's
membership at $12.
