Re: VHO Lighting Help

The in the normal code for lamp designation, the first few characters after
the T are the diameter of the lamp, described in 1/8th inch increments....
So a T8 lamp, is 8 8ths of an inch in diameter, or 1 inch, and a T-12 is 12
8ths of an inch, or 1 1/2 inches in diameter.

I did a search at http://www.lighting.philips.com/search/search.shtml,

I just cut and pasted your "TLD 18W/89" into the search window, and the
search results were all referenced to things on Philips Europe websites, so
it seems that TLD refers to some non-- "lamps designated in multiples of
1/8th inch" system. That is to say, a lamp designed for the European
market.

The North American Philips catalog is fairly easy to search on line at
http://www.lighting.philips.com/index.htm

GE, Sylvania, and all the other manufacturers have their catalogues up too.

Go through until you find lamps of similar wattage, the same connector pins,
etc. Then you can start narrowing it down to color temperature.

Specialized lamps like those made for aquarium use are a little harder to
find in these on-line catalogs. But once you have figured out what North
American designation is the equivalent replacement for those European lamps,
you can start looking in the local fish stores or the online equivalents.
