I have heard that by detoxifying the ammonia and nitrite, the cycle is 
greatly accelerated. Firstly, the bacteria's general growth rate is not 
slowed by ammonia and nitrite toxicity, and secondly, the nitrite spike 
will begin immediately, as it is not inhibited by high ammonia levels 
(which the nitrite bacteria don't deal with very well?).  Anybody have any 
experiences?
