Well, I'll admit to not being well informed as to how the process works. I
always assumed that in getting the permit to build involved an inspection of
some sort. recently several (more than a hundred acres) of Venus flytraps,
pitcher plants, sundews, and numerous wetland trees and plants were destroyed
to build houses and roll out nice lawns. Happens a lot, but if you get caught
digging up a fly trap they practically shoot you in the back of the head. I
don't have much interest in the plants except that they are the best way to
identify where to go to find swamp ponds and fish. Once it was decided to go
ahead with the construction it only took a couple of days for all the top soil
to be filled in or bulldozed off. After that there wasn't anything left to
protect.
