Vince Brach's column in the June FAMA is an interesting look at the 
life in a temporary pond, like insects, amphibians and cructaceans.  

He says that there's a company which sells a mail order temporary 
pool.  I'm looking forward to his next column where he describes the 
pool.  I'm guessing it has a valve drain to regulate the drain rate, 
something a person could put in a plastic pond liner.
