Lowry Zoo Aquarium

Hey Folks,
How's this for a new topic, since the Lowry aquarium is an NFC project,
lets get some ideas rolling round from the membership.
Outline for the setup...........River Bank Tank
The tank is about 8' long by 4' high and maybe 20+" wide.
At it's center, is a plexi column which appearantly must remain..
....(remember it's currently a saltwater livingrock display) probably part of
the fitration system.
Lighting is 2 metal halide 250watt (actinic-very blue) pendants....think they
should add at least 2 100watt daylight incandescent clear.....
Here's what we are thinking.........set up the tank as a river bank......would
need tree roots to hang into the tank, around the column, as if off a river
bank........any ideas what woods can or cannot be used...............
Subsrtate will be a mix of gravel and archilite........luv them sterile subs
: )......with a top layer of large grain mexican black sand........or a
reasonable substitute..........
Plants will be all native and indeginous to Florida, the list as
follows........Ceratophyllum demersum, a free floating aquatic which could be
strung throughout the roots.......Vallisneria americana.........planted around
the unmovable column and in one corner.............Eleocharis
acicularis...............a Nuphar species as ground cover.............a dwarf
Saggittaria, also ground cover.
As for fish...........speckled and tadpole madtoms, american flagfish, golden
topminnows, bluefin killifish, least killifish, bluespotted sunnies, banded
sunnies, unknown sunnies.... possibly bantam?, pygmy sunnies, swamp darters,
and if we can find them, bluenose and/or taillight shiners.
This list is not the last word and may change a few times before all is said
and done.
Sooooooo any input from the list? lets hear it
