Crypt meltdown

No real question here, just an observation.

In 30+ years of aquarium keeping I must have never seen a *real* crypt
meltdown.

A bit more than a week ago I put a new DIY CO2 batch on one of my tanks.
I used more yeast than I normally do and the thing started out producing
CO2 at a much higher rate than my usual batches.

The tank has (er, well maybe "had" is more appropriate at the moment) a
stand of C. wendtii taking up 6 inches of one end of the tank - front to
back, top to bottom. When I went to do the weekly water change this
morning, almost all of the wendtii leaves came out with the siphoned
water as sludge.

I've seen little meltdowns before, but nothing like this!
