Actually, the more I think about it, we've gone through different stages.
First it was 'his tank', 'my tank';
then it was 'his cichlids', 'my gouramis';
now it's 'his apistos', 'my plants'.
Anyway, that's my tip to you single men -- encourage her to find her own
niche, so she can get as enthusiastic about the hobby as you are, without
being intimidated, and then you've got 'something in common'.
Of course, if you're not looking for commitment, keep her at a safe distance
from your tanks... :)
