I saw a clever little trick once at a furniture store. I couldn't tell 
if this one table was a real solid block of wood, or MDF with veneer. I 
looked underneath and it looked like the underside of a solid plank. 
When I looked at the corner I noticed that the underside was a veneer of 
unfinished wood. That's sneaky. You had to look real close to see it.
