Re: raising daphnia

Hi,

My D. pulex thrive In basement tubs, where the temperature gets as low as 65
in the winter, and outdoors, where the summer water temperatures get into the
80's. They also overwinter outside under several inches of ice and bounce
back nicely in the spring.

They weren't a local strain originally, but maybe after five years (250
generations?) they might have adapted. But then, since most daphnia are
clones of their mothers, I;m not sure of that.

Good luck!

Bill
