Re: [APD] Diffusor clogging



I assume that would be plain distilled white vinegar?  Does that also work
on deposits on the top of the aquarium and can it be used safely with the
tank going or do you have to tear down to clean with vinegar?

Bacteria and algae will have a terrible time with the low pH at the 
diffusor surface.   Similarly for proteins.  Sugars are soluble in 
water, so there goes that idea.

In hard water the usual culprit is CaCO3 deposits, which come off 
fine with vinegar.

In soft water the usual culprit is acid-resistant strains of algae, 
which are killed by bleach.
