[APD] Diffusor clogging

Bacteria and algae will have a terrible time with the low pH at the
diffusor surface. Similarly for proteins. Sugars are soluble in
water, so there goes that idea.
In hard water the usual culprit is CaCO3 deposits, which come off
fine with vinegar.
In soft water the usual culprit is acid-resistant strains of algae,
which are killed by bleach.
