Re: Formal Retraction

Looks like Kent's request will probably turn more people off to their
products than would have happened from just casual perusal of the
archives...

More to the point though, historical record, even as simple as the archives
of this list, should not be rewritten simply because someone does not agree
with what that record states happened. I would not read Greg's comment as
slander, just a dislike of the company. This discussion will be archived
along with the original post, and anyone reading through the archives will
eventually come to this discussion. What was said was said.

Although not a lawyer, I suspect that Kent's threat (?) would be on shaky
legal grounds. My understanding is that slander can be a problem, but
simple expression of an opinion -- including the opinion of a company -- is
protected.

IMHO, history happened, should be recorded as it happened, and if someone
dislikes what happened, then there can be a new discussion recorded but the
old can never be changed. Geez. </soapbox> Anyway, that's my two cents.
Kent's actions have pretty much assured I will not use their products in
the future. I hear better things about spectrapure already. Greg is a
regular list contributor here, and I have not seen one post from a Kent
representative in the 2 years or so I've been on this list.
