In most parts of the country (maybe everywhere), there is plenty of boron in
tap water.  In fact, it was only with very great difficulty that I could
grow boron deficient plants (in hydroponics) during my MS work.  Distilled
water was not good enough.  We had to use 4 industrial deionizing columns
followed by a Nanopure system to get 16 M-ohm or better resistivity to
accomplish acceptable B deficiency.
