I'v always had a reoccuring green water problem. Whether it can back in a
week or a month it always came back. I have a 87Gal heavily planted tank
with med fish load and I had tried everything. After about a month of have
0ppm of phosphates and my plants almost stop growing and still having green
water (guess they need nitrates more than phosphate) I went out and brought
UV sterilized and attached it to my Fuval 404.
Water is so clear now I could serve it to people in a glass (would be a
little warm thought :) )
Maybe you can fix your problem with the other methods (methods seem to have
different effectivenesses depending our your tank. ie light or heavy
plant/fish load) but the UV will definately work. Not cheap though.
