Greg Stauffer and I check Peace Creek in Polk County, Florida for Fla gar
broodstock.  We were able to
collect gar, but we also found, bass, redbreast sunfish, crappie, bluegill,
catfish, gambusia, silversides,
sailfin mollies, lined topminnows, bluefin killies, &  least killifish.

We also found a Pleco guarding her nest.  Their nests consists of  a hole in
the bank the size of your fist and longer than my arm.  When I check the
nest it was full of fry.
