I thought that was pretty "amusing" when I first heard about it.  I guess
squawfish aren't worth as much as electricity.  A pity they won't put a
bounty on dams or the consumers who drive the demand for dams.  :-) :-)  
Kind of a no win situation really.  It is also kind of amusing that the 
Colorado River squawfish's main reason for decline and extinction from
the 
lower Colorado is largely due to dams.  They are only found above Glen 
Canyon Dam these days.  Your squawfish in OR/WA obviously isn't too 
bothered by the dams, or at least not to the same extent.  

Mind you, it goes to show that the right kind of press in the appropriate

place can have an influence on people's perception of a species.  If only

we can get folks to think of damnbusia in that way.  :-)
