National 4-H Council Partners With Solar Quest to Promote the Sterling
Scholar Awards
Sterling College in Craftsbury Common, Vermont, is pleased to announce
the
establishment of the Sterling Scholar Award as the highest achievement
for
the National Environmental Stewardship Award's program. Two full
four-year scholarships have been created for high school seniors who
demonstrate a commitment to environmental service, who maintain
consistently high academic performance and a 3.0 GPA, and who in spirit
and action "Think Globally and Act Locally." Sterling Scholar Awards are
offered to one male and one female student each year who participate in
the National Awards for Environmental Stewardship program.
Sterling College, nestled in the foothills of the Green Mountains of
Vermont, integrates its academic programs in a genuine working rural
community. The college offers a Bachelor's of Arts Degree with
concentrations in Outdoor Education and Leadership, Wildlands Ecology and
Management, and Sustainable Agriculture. Our goal is to educate
responsible problem solvers and stewards of the environment. Sterling
also offers an Associate of Arts Degree in Resource Management.
Sterling College promotes sustainability and commitment to community
throughout its curriculum. The college's 136 acres, set around the green
of
a small New England village, serve as an extended classroom. Surrounding
woodlands, fields, and mountains invite students to connect their
learning
to the local environment. The small Sterling College community provides
a
supportive learning environment offering easy access to faculty,
life-long relationships, and learning that goes beyond the classroom.
