Thanks to everyone who provided information on my water orchid. Maybe I
should have done more digging before I posted - I did find some info in both
Denenrle and Baensch, vol. 3, but the info provided by list members seemed
more to the point.

The photos of the flowers of this plant remind me very much of a small
orchid that I used to find growing in "blueberry bogs" in Nova Scotia when I
was a kid. Is the Spiranthes family a large one, with perhaps relatives
living in Eastern Canada? As I recall, the flowers had a distinctly licorice
aroma.
