Clay isn't so much rich or poor as it is a desciptor of the soil.  There
are many threads about clay in the APD archives and you can read more about
clay (and all sorts of other goodies) at Steve Pushak's site
(http://home.infinet.net/teban/).

As for Sword plants, they are heavy root feeders.  They often suffer from
calcium deficiency as seen in the yellow leaves.  So no matter what
substrate you use, you should pre-think the sword plants common problems.
