quartz halogen lights

If you live in the Bay Area, I am going to the relevant Costco tomorrow,
let me know if you want me to pick up lights for you. If you are on APD
and live outside the Bay Area, read and learn....

A few of the Costcos(Price Clubs) have a set of three quartz halogen lights
at 20w each for about $16 (plus tax where applicable). These are kind of a
DIY package that you install as under cabinet lights in your plain old
ordinary application. The package says do not use in aquariums because
they not at all designed to stand dunking in your tank or worse.

They can be set up as three lights over one tank or one light each over 3
nearby tanks (five feet or so from transformer to first tank, 30" or so
between tanks).

If you read what Tom Barr has said these might be very effective as plant
lights. I don't know, I have never used one, but for $16.....

If you want me to pick you up a pack of three lights, email me by 10AM
Tuesday.
I will bring the lights to the open fish room that SFBAAPS is holding.

Have fun. Dave
