42 Amps at 12 V is not quite welding current (it's only 4.2A at 120V). I
think that landscaping lights used along garden paths should be more in
that category. Home Depot sells them quite reasonably.

I've never looked for something with that much current. 42 amps?  Yow,
check out 
welding supply shops!  You might try Allied Electronics (I think they
have a web 
site).
