This is not a bad idea, it is a terrible idea.   If you close the
list off to new blood you will kill it.  Those who keep it going over
time are an evolving group and there is a need for constant
replenishment of the contributors.  If you don't want to participate
in the list, don't.   But don't kill it for others.
