Re: [APD] Algae Control

Vadiraj   20 hours of light a day is too long. I would think this is why you have algae. On my 15 gallon plant tank that I started 4 weeks ago I have no algae, and the light is a 17 watt on for 8 hours a day. Low tech/low light no CO2 and the plants are all growing... Joe

Hi All,

After two weeks, the plants in my 5 gallons Aquarium is growing. But
the there is lot of algae too is growing.
I have not put any fish yet. I'm sure many people would have asked
this earlier. Given my condition, any
pointers to control/clean the algae will be helpful.

I suspect the growth of algae might be due to few plants dint grow and
died in there. Below is what I have in
the tank.

ADA Amazonia as substrate.
Do!Aqua be green liquid fertilizer
Yeast based CO2
ADA BIO-RIO in an Internal filter.
11watts Light around 20 Hrs a day.

Plants.
Hemianthus micranthemoides
Hygrophila corymbosa

Thanks in Advance

Cheers,
Vadi
