Re: [APD] Tank Size Question

The diff is only the added height with the 90g, which is not an advantage, imo. I think the standard 75 is almost a perfect all around size for a planted plant. Large enough for most plants and with good proportions. The 90 makes things a bit worse by adding height without adding any length or width. Think about the height of the 75g and then think about howmuch nicer an aquascape will/won't look if it was two inches taller than that but witthout any added length or width. You rarely heare someone say, that aquascape is just about perfect -- if only it could have been an inch or two taller.

Now if you find a 90 that deeper front-to-back vis-a-vis a 75g, well, now you're talking. One can almost always put more depth to good use in a aqauscape.

And lastly, the 90g is hard to reach into.

I think for most pruposes the 75 is preferable. But personal tastes and needs can vary. ;-)

Of all the choices in the world to be saddled with, I can think of worse,
good luck, good fun,
Scott H.

If it were me I would decide based upon the length of my arms. If I
felt I could reach deep enough to plant and trim the 90 gallon I would
go that way, but if not, I would go for the 75 gallon. The deeper tank
is an advantage for growing tall plants like echinodorus (sp?),
barclaya or even vallisneria - at least that was my experience. You
should have enough light for either tank.
