Any chance we could talk the list mom and host to allow the posting of the
abbreviation list on the APD website for all to reference without having to
search the archives?

Is there an introductory email that people get when they subscribe to this list? A little bit of information (and a few warnings) would be useful. For example, the list of abbreviations, a list of web forums and other lists, the link to the archive and a quick overview of some of the major more 'colourful' characters of APD. Also a description of the Tom Barr method, and 'modern' planted tank keeping techniques.
And of course FAQNTA (I've decided we need one more acronym, so I invented one) or Frequently Asked Questions Not To Ask. Or even FAQNTABTBATTA (Frequently Asked Questions Not To Ask Because They've Been Asked Twenty Times Already). Even though I'm guilty of asking them. But I wouldn't have asked them if I knew not to ask them, see?
Finally, we should encourage people to ask sensible questions.
Just my opinion, of course...
