[APD] Re: Fleet Enema for PO4

Jason,
For my 75 gallon tank Tom had recommended 250 to 500 milligrams of KH2PO4
two times per week.
KH2PO4 is 82% PO4 so 250 mg of KH2PO4 is 205 mg PO4. So you need 205 mg of
PO4 from the enema twice per week.
The enema has 19 g of Na2HPO4 and 7 g of KH2PO4 which comes out to 18.47 g
of PO4 in 133 ml of water. Thats 139 mg of PO4 per 1 ml of the enema.
205/139 = 1.47 ml of enema is needed.
My 1/3 teaspoon says on it that it is 1.65 ml.
So use 1/3 teaspoon of fleet enema twice per week.

Somebody check me on this.

Regards,
Steve Pituch

PS. a) 205mg PO4 in 60 gallons is about .9 ppm, for what its worth.
        b) The generic enemas are half the price of the Fleet ones, and the
same formulation.
