In my experience, spot algae forms when my iron levels are high (from adding 
too much micro trace mix or equilibrium) rather than a lack of N, P or K.

While very few things (fish) will eat spot algae, it's also the least 
worrisome in my tanks.  Only my anubias or sword leaves that are exposed to 
high light over a long period of time are really ever effected.
