I tried a couple bulbs a few years back
and went running and screaming back to AHS for their 6400K 13-watt bulb. You
might check to see if they have a color temp marked on it. All the ones I've
seen have this golden-yellow light that
made the tank look like "late afternoon"
all the time.

I am sure you have seen them.  The small flourescent bulbs that are used to
replace regular incandescent bulbs.  I just got some that are "100 watts".
I was wondering if this is a true 100 watts of light because they sure would
be easy to use in my hood.
