What the color of water is in a buket!

Hmmm ... Here is my first guess:

1.  The color of water is clear
2.  The color of any impurities or other
    substances "in" the water might change
    that?

i.e.  The color of green water is clear, but
The color of the stuff in the water is green?

Hmmm ... Here is my second guess:

1.  The color of water is the color of the full
    spectrum of the light entering the water
    because isn't light made up of the full
    spectrum of colors?

Hmmm ... Here is my third guess:

1.  The color of water is whatever the color of
    the spectrum of light that is being refracted
    or reflected back to you.

Well ... Those are my best guesses for Dave!
