Observations on the Jordenella floridae

They inhabit the dense shallow shoreline grasses usually covered in algae and
are collected with F. confluentus and Elassoma evergladei. The female has a
prominant black spot on the dorsal. They are fin nippers and omnivores,
readily taking both live and prepared foods as well as grazing on algae. I
have them in a tank of natives with little to no problems with "nipping".
Perhaps they simply prefer the more colorful finnage of the exotics.  : )
