NFC: 4H clubs

With the invaluable help of Mr. Flowers and a few more folks I was able
to track down the 4H guy who heads up their enviromental studies program.
They do not on the national level have an organized Aquatic Sciences
program but many County chapters do. Anyway the long and the short of it
is he loved the NFC we are working on some partnering stuff on the
national level and he invited me to write a short Piece on the NFC for
their monthly email letter that goes out to all 3500 county offices plus
so here it is ignore the typos and thanks agian guys for all your help
and good ideas. !! This goes out on Friday to all the 4h'rs .....

The Native Fish Conservancy Needs 4H Kids !

The Native Fish Conservancy a non profit organization is seeking to
partner
with 4H club members and leaders who are interested in doing aquatic
Science
Programs with a local twist. The local twist being keeping local fish in
home aquariums for study or enjoyment and just plain fun. Collecting and
keeping local fish is the best way for 4H members to learn about the
needs
and inhabitants of the creeks, ponds and lakes around them. These same
Ponds
, creeks and Lakes that as adults they will farm and live around.

The NFC is offering 4H members some unique resources. First Off our
website
at http://nativefish.interspeed.net has 100's of articles , photo's and
links, to other native fish sites plus several email lists to share
information with or to get you started. We also are setting up a kids
corner
web page to allow Youth from all across the country to share their
experiences , ideas and Hopes with similar like minded kids. It will have
games , pictures a chat room and a Bulletin Board all for free all for
Youth. Second off we are involved locally in many conservation related
projects. from simple ones like setting a Fish Tanks of Local fish to big
ones like Stream Clean up , Exotic Removal and collecting parties. We
invite
all the 4H Youth leaders and members to partner with us on these
activities.
Finally we are offering a discount rate if you'd like to join the NFC.
For
5$ any 4H Leader or member can join the NFC and get our Cool newsletter
wich
will have its own kids section and lots of interesting news , facts and
stuff about native fish. Now the newsletter is nice , but the main reason
to
join is to help our native fish. If you'd like to Join please send your
name
adress etc and a 5$ Tax deducatible contribution to
