I grow them. There are actually several mutants of Drosophila melangogaster that can't fly. I prefer apterous because it is truly without any hint of a wing. Some fish love them, some don't. If you have floating plants, the files often manage to keep out of reach of the fish and eventually make it out of the tank, but for me that's a minor problem. Kim
