Signs of Spring
The temperature here in SE PA, USA, is in the 40's and the trees are bare,
and one of my daphnia tubs still has ice on it. But another tub, half filled
with leaves from last fall, already has a lot of bloodworms "essing" through
the water and something else, maybe fairy shrimp (where did they come from?)
slowly pulsing along.
The daphnia eggs are still resting and the next generation of mosquitoes is
wherever they go in the winter, but with such signs can real spring be far
away?
