Hello, My indoor daphnia are reddish and the outdoor ones are usually a lot darker, although they become reddish too when they "pulse". I've read that daphnia redden when they are stressed and the hemoglobin in their blood increases. So maybe "darker" is the natural color of healthy daphnia. I'm sure others know more than I.
