reposting: algea in power filter

hello all,
Reposting this still looking for some answers!

I have a new problem these days. I use two 
aquaclear
200's on my 30G tank.
Now that I've added plants and CO2 and I 
fertilized
once I have green water and algea growing in my 
filter
pad.
AND I mean growing! dark greenm thick long 
strands of
the stuff! smells very green too!
I have put a new pad once and it seemed to help 
the
green water clear up some.
Should I keep replacing these pads? they are the 
thick
foam pads, I have stopped using the carbon and 
the
ammonia ones.
any advise??
