piranhas

i think piranha's ferocity is greatly exaggerated and mythologized.  in the wild, they are omnivores and i've heard of people that raised piranha babies with lettuce and pieces of Elodea.  of course, all caution should be exercised with any fish with such sharp teeth.  in the new york aquarium, they keep big piranhas with lots of small tetras and the big bad piranhas don't attack the neons and lemon tetras.  

does anyone know anything about a related fish, Ossubtus?
