I for one love to do color pencil drawings of my plants and am always doodling plants during boring classes or lectures =)
My drawings aren't very good, but I think it is a lovely idea to promote this aspect of the hobby. 
I absolutly love the tropica illustrations and wish that one could buy prints of them to frame.

I wholeheartedly support your idea!
