Trimming Cabomba

My cabomba plants are almost of the top of my 55 gal. tank and will need
trimming soon. I know that they can be cut and replanted but I was wondering
if the remaining stems will grow off shoots like Hygro and other stem
plants? If so what is a good height to leave the stems so they will grow
properly.
Thanks,
