One of the most dangerous noxious wetlands species loose in the US today is
purple loosestrife. It looks really neat, but outcompetes just about every
native species. The plants put out like thousands of seeds each year.
The really sad part of the problem is that some pond plant distributors and
web-vendors sell this stuff, while the government is trying to eliminate it.
You'd think the appropriate govt agency would stop its sale, but nope,
they're leaving it to be handled by state agencies.
