CO2 question

Currently I have my CO2 system running through a DIY CO2 reactor made from
an underground filter.  My question is that the bubbles flow through gravel
in the reactor and out through the top to the water surface, but how is the
CO2 mixing throughout the aquarium?  I have no water flowing in or out of
the reactor.  Would it be better to just feed the CO2 directly in the
Aquaclear filter's intake line?
