I think that depends on what problem you are trying to solve.   From your
post I don't hear about a problem.  If you have too much algae, you need to
get reliable test kits and try to figure out why.  If you are trying to
increase plant growth, you need to get reliable test kits and find out what
is holding your plants back.  Can you give us more info?
