Rather than sterilization, why not drop them in a bare tank with just ambient
room lighting for four or five days. If there are snails, you will see them.
If there are snail eggs, they won't be carrying these parasites. Any algae
that might survive the low light for that long will be eliminated in a
balanced planted aquarium.
