Roxanne, I too had a similar problem several years ago with green water. I too darkened the tank etc. The thing that finally took care of the problem was installing a UV filter for 2-3 days. If you have a friend that can loan you one, that would be the best since running a UV on a planted tank isn't recommended since it will oxidize any additives (i.e. fertilizers) in the tank. Dan
