Florescent vs T8 Lighting

Hello,  
I would greatly appreciate any advise I could get from this group. 
For my 30gal tank, which is being coverted to a planted tank, which lighting
is best? I was going to get a double 30 watt 36" fluorescent but just came
across a 36" T8 doulbe tube.  
I dont want to do it myself, but just came upon the T8 at $129 compared to the
fluorescent at $79. Could you rate the 2; is the more expensive one worth the
money? How much better is a T8?
