Bamboo

I've seen references to bamboo in planted tanks in the archives.

Will it survive in an exclusively aquatic environment?  I'm not sure if the
references were to living plants, or just to dried-out sticks.

If so/if not, what are its needs?  Temperature, pH, substrate,
fertilization?

(Right now, my tank's set at 82, pH is roughly 7.5, GH/KH 6ish,
flourite/sand substrate, no extra fertilization.)

I've got an entire backyard full of bamboo.  Depending on the feedback, I'd
like to try it in my aquatic tank and/or my paludarium.
