Max.Tank sizes?

I have been wondering what length x width tanks do most of you prefer
and what it the largest that is practical to plant? I have a 24h x 18w
and that seems to me to be about as big as practical and still be able
to reach the back of the tank with out a snorkel or  getting underarm
deodorant in the water.

We are looking at another house plan and if build this one we will not
have the large tank as a room divider and therefore no access from
both sides. So if we go ahead and build a large tank it will most
likely be against the wall. Width and height become a big
consideration suddenly!
