Lighting Nomenclature??

>What does, 'f30t12' 'f24t12
>'f40t12' refer to in the listings of catalogs about electronic
ballasts?

Unfortunately there is no strict designation by which these lamps are
identified.

For example, to describe a 4' long fluorescent lamp designed to run at
265 ma. (i.e., a 4' "T8"), Osram uses the ordering code "FO32", followed
by their own codes to identify color temp and CRI. The F refers to
fluorescent, O to "Octron" (I'm guessing on this part), and 32 to the
lamp wattage. "Octron" is the name for their line of lamps designed to
run at 265 ma. It doesn't say T8 anywhere, but the people at the
electrical supply places should know what you're talking about if you
ask for T8s.

Phillips and GE use ordering codes like "F32T8", again followed by their
own codes to identify color temp and CRI. The T refers to the shape of
the lamp, and as Paul Nicholson has already mentioned, the 8 refers to
the diameter, in eighths of an inch. In case you're curious, the
regular screw in 60W incandescents are usually "A19"s, A-type bulb
shape, 19/8" dia.
