Check the archives: I brought this one up a little while back, and as
usual, there were several APDers who knew a fair bit about it.  Try
looking under "Arcillite."

In addition, I now know someone who has used it in a tank, and feels it
gives comparable results to other laterite type substrates.  It does,
however, tend to kick up during replanting and such activities, though
it settles very easily afterwards.
